Gabon: Highlights (BA2207)

Gabon is one of the top birding countries in central and western Africa, providing relatively easy access to pristine forests and savannas. Our tours are timed to coincide with the start of the breeding season of African River Martin; watching these busy birds around their colony is one of the world’s top birding spectacles.

• grasslands and miombo woodlands of the Bateke Plateau at Lékoni in the south-east of the country
  
• two full days in Lope National Park, a rich area of savanna-forest mosaic. Besides the birding there is good opportunity to see Forest mammals, including several species of primate.
• coastal savannas and forests at Loango National Park
• we visit an active African River Martin colony
