With general political instability across the Sahel and southern Sahara belt, Senegal has been propelled into birding focus. It is currently the only stable and safe place to see specials such as Golden Nightjar, Saville’s Bustard, Little Grey Woodpecker, Sennar Penduline Tit, Quail-plover and Mali Firefinch.
Gambia, on the other hand, has been a long-time birding favourite. Together they give a great overview of arid savanna West African Birding. We provide a two-week itinerary to target most of the key species the region has to offer.
